In some skillfully produced films there can be a growing dramatic tension which is only resolved by some appaling act which, in itself, pales into insignificance by the preceding tension. My favourite by a huge margin is the moment in "From Dusk Till Dawn" when Quentin Tarantino finally gets killed. You almost want to applaud the vampires for exercising such good judgement.
I'm sure there is a latin expression to describe it but I can't remember what it is.

May I also suggest the scene from "Deep Blue Sea" where Samuel L. Jackson has given us the rousing "We're going to make it" speech complete with inspiring music, and at the absolute climax of the speech/music, the shark leaps out of the pool behind him and take him out?
